UB employees add to the £74,000 already raised for charity by completing 10 mile Monopoly stations walk around London
08 June 2015: United Biscuits’ (UB) manufacturing site in Harlesden continues to support the Macmillan charity. Employees from the site most recently took part in a Monopoly stations walk around London to continue to add to the £74,000 already raised since they began supporting the charity in 2004.
The Monopoly stations’ walk is expected to raise over £1,250 and comprised of employees walking over 10 miles around London to each of the stations on the Monopoly board starting at Marylebone. The team split into two groups for the walk with the first group completing the challenge in three hours and the second group in four hours.
The site has also previously completed two other walk challenges, including a canal walk from Uxbridge to Camden raising over £3,000 and a London bridges walk from Tower Bridge to Richmond Bridge raising over £6,000. Other fundraising activities have included raffles, car boot sales and product donations.
Tiani Raveendran, Assistant Site Accountant at Harlesden and organiser of the walk, commented, “Harlesden is proud to support Macmillan through many fundraising activities and we have been overwhelmed by the support that we have received from UB employees. Our Monopoly stations walk was a great success and on the day our t-shirts attracted a lot of attention from the public who asked us if we were carrying any biscuits.”
