Ferne McCann and Bradley Simmonds join forces to launch The go ahead! Summer Buddy Project
- Duo launch virtual ‘buddy programme’ designed to help people reach their wellness goals this summer
- Project to focus on both mind and body and give people a wide range of simple activities they can do in pairs
- Project launched after research shows that women are 74% more likely to stick to try new fitness and well-being activities if they do them with a friend
7 July 2016 TV personality and presenter, Ferne McCann, and personal trainer to the stars, Bradley Simmonds, have today teamed up with the biscuit brand go ahead! to launch ‘The go ahead! Summer Buddy Project’ – a mission to help people find wellness and fitness inspiration, and motivation with their friends this summer.
As a smart snacking brand, go ahead! aims to help women stick to their healthy intentions in an enjoyable way and to celebrate the feeling of making smart decisions. The brand has teamed up with a squad of fitness and wellness experts, including Ferne and Bradley, to launch the project, and become a ‘virtual buddy’ for those looking for inspiration and motivation this summer – whether this be how to do the perfect plank, life coaching tips for how to achieve your goals, or how to practice mindfulness.
In a break with traditional fitness and wellness online guides, the tips and tutorials in ‘The go ahead! Summer Buddy Project’ will have a twist – they are all designed to be done with a friend, to help you stay motivated. All of the tips, videos, tutorials and inspiration can be found on the go ahead! social media channels and will be released throughout the summer for people to get ahead (mentally and physically) this summer.
To launch the project Ferne and Bradley have teamed up for a sizzling photo shoot, and also created video tutorials where they buddy up to inspire each other – the first of which shows Bradley take Ferne through some simple exercises to try at home.
Ferne McCann says of the project: “I know myself how much easier staying motivated is when you have a friend to help you, so I hope The go ahead! Summer Buddy Project helps people to find that same motivation – and encourages them to try new activities with their friends too.
“It offers such a wide range of wellness activities and tips that you can get involved no matter what your experience or fitness levels – and it’s designed to help you feel good rather than focussing on just looking good!”
Running from July to September ‘The go ahead! Summer Buddy Project’ will also see other experts join the squad such as Life Coach, Lydia Kimmerling. Along with Ferne and Bradley they will be sharing their tips and inspiration to help people better their mental and physical selves this summer – and bring their friends along for the ride! As well as enjoying the tips and tutorials, people will also be able to pose questions to the team via the go ahead! social media feeds, take part in competitions to win sessions with our squad, and get involved with the squad’s Twitter takeovers to find out more about how to reach their wellness goals.
Sarah Heynen, Marketing Director for Sweet Biscuits at pladis, says of the launch: “go ahead! is all about snacking smart, and the celebratory feeling you get when you make a smart decision. The go ahead! Summer Buddy Project is giving people the opportunity to make their own smart choices and be inspired to try something new with their friends to feel good this summer – three quarters of women agree that they’re likely to both try a new exercise and work harder when with a buddy, which supports the launch of this project”
