Britain’s favourite crackers now being relaunched to the Swedish market
15 September 2015: United Biscuits (UB), the leading international manufacturer of biscuits, snacks and cakes, announces the relaunch of Carr’s to the Swedish market. The history of Carr’s began in the early 1800s when Jonathan Dodgson Carr opened a small bakery in the city of Carlisle in England. This is where the original recipe for Carr’s Table Water Crackers evolved, creating a product that dominated the British market. Today Carr’s consists of six different products that are sold in more than 50 countries the world over. Now the brand is being relaunched to the Swedish market with an all-new appeal.
“In its revitalised form, Carr’s has obtained inspiration from all over the world, where surprising tastes combine with the crackers to create exciting new taste sensations. Today, combining cheese with crackers is pretty run-of-the-mill,” explains Annika Gremner, Marketing Manager at United Biscuits, Sweden.
“We want to showcase new and somewhat unusual occasions where crackers come into their own. When we say that Carr’s enhances the flavour we mean quite simply that the crackers elevate the taste of whatever topping you put on them. With these recipes we want to offer inspiration for festive occasions, social dining settings in which I believe dishes such as tapas and snacks of various kinds will continue to grow as a pleasant accessory to social mingling,” continues Annika Gremner.

Carr’s Table Water – crispy wheat crackers. Recommended price: 19 kronor
The name comes from the fact that in their original form these crackers were a staple for sailors out at sea. Water was used instead of fat to mix the dry ingredients so as to keep the crackers fresh on long voyages.
Carr’s Flatbreads – two different flavours: Mixed seeds and salt & cracked pepper. Recommended price: 17 kronor
Carr’s Cheese Melts – crispy crackers sprinkled with cheese and salt. Recommended price: 19 kronor
Carr’s Assorted – a selection of nine delicious crackers in one package. Recommended price: 30 kronor
