United Biscuits supports STEM careers at 2016 Big Bang Fair
United Biscuits highlights career opportunities at UB and across the FMCG industry, encouraging attendees to create their own biscuit
16 March 2016: United Biscuits (UB), a leading international manufacturer of biscuits, cakes and snacks, has today announced that it will be showcasing at the Big Bang Fair in Birmingham from 16 to 19 March with the aim of inspiring and encouraging young people to consider the variety of STEM careers available at UB and across the FMCG industry.
UB is committed to inspiring talent into the industry and in 2015 provided 34 apprentice places for a period of one to two years. At the fair, UB, who can be found at stand 119 in hall 19, will not only be providing information on the range of future opportunities available within the business from research & development, engineering and supply chain, but will also be encouraging attendees to get creative and take part in a number of activities. Visitors to the stand this year will learn about the science behind biscuit dunking, have the chance to guess how many McVitie’s Digestive Nibbles in the jar and how many Jacob’s Mini Cheddars need to be stacked up to reach the height of Big Ben. There will also be the chance to – with the help of some of UB’s talented employees who will be at the Fair – design their very own biscuit!
Jason Billingham, Head of Discover at United Biscuits said:
“The Big Bang Fair is a real celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths and is a great way to inspire young people by bringing alive the exciting and rewarding opportunities there are in these areas.
