Retro favourite Trio is about to make a LOUD encore – Sinitta launches nationwide competition to find the new voice
- Nationwide competition to find the new voice of Trio
- Comes as part of celebrated return to UK for chocolate biscuit bar
- Competition fronted by 80s pop legend, Sinitta
09 March 2016: United Biscuits (UB), a leading international manufacturer of biscuits, snacks and cakes, has today launched a nationwide competition to find the new voice of McVitie’s retro chocolate biscuit bar Trio – to help with the search, the biscuit maker has also teamed up with 80s pop legend, Sinitta, to get the country signing.
Trio hit headlines earlier this year after McVitie’s announced its return to shelves for a limited period. To celebrate its return, McVitie’s and Sinitta are on the lookout for the new voice of Trio, to help breathe life in to its famous jingle.
The winner will receive a trio of prizes (naturally) – £3,000 prize money, an all-expenses-paid recording day to lay down their version of the song, and a spot on national radio station, Capital FM, where their winning entry will be played to the nation. Spot prizes are also due to be given away on McVitie’s social channels throughout the competition.
Budding vocalists simply have to film themselves singing the theme tune, and then post their entry to the McVitie’s Facebook page, or post on Twitter using the #iwantatrio hashtag – more information can be found at www.mcvities.co.uk/trio.
Entries will be judged by Sinitta and McVitie’s based on fun, creativity, loudness (of course) and how well they bring Trio to life!
Sinitta says of the competition: “As soon as I heard that Trio was coming back I started singing the jingle, and I was so pleased when McVitie’s asked me to get involved with the search. The new voice of Trio needs to be bold, creative and – above all – fun!
“I can’t wait to see the entries start to come through, and I’m already excited about crowning our winner – sing it loud Great Britain!”
McVitie’s announced the relaunch of Trio in February of this year, after a 13 year absence. The milk chocolate covered biscuit bar, with toffee flavour cream and crunchy biscuit base, is available on shelves now in a number of UK supermarkets.
Sarah Heynen, Marketing Director, Sweet Biscuits, said: “As soon as people hear the name Trio they start singing the jingle – and it’s this sonic nostalgia that we want to celebrate. The fact that Trio is coming back was exciting enough in itself, but launching our competition makes it even more so, and we’re all looking forward to seeing what the country comes up with.
The competition opens on 3 March 2016 and runs until 30 May 2016. It is open to all UK residents aged 18 or over. For Ts & Cs and more information on how to enter visit www.mcvities.co.uk/trio.
