Seasonal cake sales set to soar thanks to McVitie’s

McVitie’s Cake Company (MCC) is launching a variety of Halloween & Bonfire Night limited edition cake products in combination with an Alton Towers on pack promotion, which are set to send retailers’ profits rocketing this autumn. In addition to the return of some firm favourites, MCC is launching a brand new Halloween variant for 2012 to allow retailers to take advantage of the growing demand for seasonal cakes.

Spooktacular sales

Following the ongoing popularity of its limited edition cake bars, MCC is launching a brand new variant to its seasonal range, McVitie’s Spooky Sour Cake Bars.  The new Cake Bars include a purple sponge topped with a sour blackcurrant jam, covered in dark chocolate to encourage spooktacular sales for retailers in the lead up to Halloween. 

The new variant of limited edition cake bars will now join the range of firm Halloween favourites including McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes Spooky Cake Bars (dark chocolate and light sponge with a zingy orange centre) and McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes Lemon & Slime Cake Bars (dark chocolate and light sponge with a lemon and lime centre).  The entire range will be available for retailers from the end of August in packs of 5 cake bars at a MRRP of £1.65.

Make your profits rocket

With figures showing that one in five consumers plan to host a Bonfire extravaganza for friends and family it’s crucial that retailers stock up on the right products to allow them to take advantage of the seasonal sales on offer.  In line with this, MCC is bringing back its popular McVitie’s Tate & Lyle Sticky Toffee Apple Cake to provide the perfect bonfire night pick me up.  Comprising of a delicious moist sticky toffee apple flavour cake made with Lyle’s Golden Syrup, the popular limited edition variant will be available from the end of August at a MRRP of £1.55.

Terrifying towers promotion

MCC is also running a suitably scary Alton Towers on-pack promotion across the seasonal products.  The promotion, which offers consumers 2 for 1 entry to Alton Towers when accompanied by one full paying adult, will be communicated by an on-pack flash.  In order to redeem the offer, all consumers have to do is visit www.altontowers.co.uk and enter the code from the pack, or simply take it to the theme park itself.

This, coupled with the increase in the number of people holding their own bonfire spectaculars, make these seasonal occasions key sales opportunities for retailers.
