United Biscuits well on the way to meeting community targets

- With our employees we have donated over £140,000 to charity in funds or product.
- We’ve granted 348 days leave for our employees to do volunteer work in their communities.
- NVQ learning more than doubled compared to 2008, with 714 employees (around 10% of our workforce) taking NVQs.
- We extended our apprentice scheme from 35 to 48 apprentices in 2009.
- We launched a Graduate Recruitment Programme and 19 new graduates joined UB.
- We managed in conjunction with our unions to increase the number of our sites with Employee Learning Centres from three to nine, with a further two due to open in 2010.
- Against a target to offer 150 graduate summer places a year, we had 173 places taken by students in 2009.
- UB’s accident frequency rate reduced by 25%, minor accidents were down 15%, and lost hours from Lost Time Accidents reduced by 42%.
