Corporate Responsibility

Our Ethics

UB has built up a strong reputation for integrity over many years and that is reflected in its governance and operating standards which provide clear guidance for everyone working in the organisation. We know that every employee has a role to play in maintaining and building that high ethical standard and all colleagues are handed a copy of our standards on joining UB.

UB insists on honesty, integrity and fairness in all aspects of its business and expects these values to be upheld by employees. UB also operates a ‘Whistleblowing’ process as a further safeguard to ensure that our high governance and operating standards are maintained.

UB operates an ethical sourcing policy that is designed to assess and provide assurance that its suppliers comply with the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Base Code. The ETI developed their base code with material derived from international standards. Among its requirements, the ETI Base Code specifies that child labour should not be used, working conditions are safe and hygienic, living wages are paid, working conditions are not excessive and harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed.
